Soil products made from organic materials collected at curbside each week from Southern California residents are now available at landscaping wholesaler Performance Nursery (2500 Manhattan Beach Blvd.) and across the street at its retail outlet, South Bay Gardens.
Organics recycler Agromin creates the planting mix, potting soil, vegetable garden mix and other soil products. The company collects over 380,000 tons of material (leaves, lawn clippings and tree trimmings) each year from residents and businesses and then uses a safe, natural and sustainable process to transform the material into its soil products.
"Residents do their part by filling up their green recycling barrels each week," says Bill Camarillo, Agromin CEO. "We turn the material into organically rich compost--without chemicals and without human or animal waste. Gardening outlets such as Performance Nursery then give residents the opportunity to close the recycling loop--by putting the compost back into their gardens. It's truly a sustainable effort, especially since the entire process takes place in Southern California"
"It's important for gardeners to protect their investment," says Fernando Munoz, Performance Nursery manager. "Using quality planting mix like Agromin's will make your plants stronger and healthier. And, it's always a good idea to use products created locally from our own green materials. It's better for our economy and better for the environment."
Soil products are available in bags or in bulk. For more information about organics recycling, go to www.agromin.com. To reach Performance Nursery, call 800-525-5446, www.performancenursery.com.
