• Solutions for Urban Ag: Sustainable Farming In Urban Settings - Friday, September 22, 2017 at

  • Imagine healthy food growing right where people live--in and around cities. That's the goal of Solutions for Urban Ag (SFUA). The nonprofit group based in Orange County is working on projects where urban land is repurposed to grow farm products. Its mission is to address "some of the pressing food security, public health, ecological, workforce and educational needs facing urban environments today."

Agromin was a recent sponsor at SFUA's second annual Harvest Moon Celebration at Tanaka Farms in Irvine. The event was a fundraiser to help in this very worthy cause.
Here’s a link to a video that talks about SFUA's partnering with the Orange County's Second Harvest Food Bank. Food is grown at the "Incredible Edible Farm," a 4 1/2 acre-site on land owned by the City of Irvine. It produces over 250,000 pounds of produce annually that is then distributed through the food bank to those in need. It's one of three farms of its kind (with another opening soon).  https://youtu.be/milgGlUV40A
